written by Guest , July 22, 2008

Grandma told me I didn't need a Daytona, but I sure love Dale Jr. I sold my trailer to by this classy piece of work. It has served me well. It keeps me on time so the misses doesn't catch me with mah sister. Who needs fancy suites and K-Mart sweaters? I were this beuty brings out the best in mah Budlight and Z28.

Finest watch I have ever owned. Every day as I go to put this on, I think how fortunate I am to own one. The last watch I will ever buy. Simply the best...

Too much money for a watch that has no date.
written by Guest , July 22, 2008

I was on the waiting list at my local authorized dealer for 2 years before I got the call. I promptly pick up the watch and added it to my collection of other wathches. But after 2 months, I became annoyed that it had no date. So I promptly sold it for $2000 more than I paid for it. Why anybody would pay that kind of money for a watch with no date is beyond me. I am glad to be rid of it.

The treasured daytona

If you own a Daytona, as I do, that is all you have to say.

People who know them, pick up on them right away. They are scarce, and hard to get. That is why if you can get one at jeweler retail $7500, you are lucky.

You can be around people who wear Rolexes, and the sophisticated ones notice it right off the get go. Walk into any jewelry store, and the counter people notice it as you walk in. Its a rush.

Did you know that Rolex prohibits sales people from wearing a Daytona in their stores because customers become angry when they notice them, and find out how few of them are allocated to a store. The waiting list goes to their better customers, and can take years to move up.

If you like the watch, bite the bullet,

and buy it. Otherwise you will waste time, and money waiting to find one.

Rare, collectible, and prestigious

I bought my ss Daytona this past year and it has been my go-to watch almost everyday. It has a tremendous feel of quality and it just looks great with a suit or casual dress. I have gotten quite a few compliments from the sales crew at the finer watch stores; even some of them haven't seen this watch up close and personal. With that said, if you are not a vip at an authorized dealer, expect to pay a hefty premium over msrp when buying through another source. And do expect the watch to appreciate in value via regular price increases and its exclusivity.

The only complaint I have with the watch is that it is missing a date complication. But once I put it on and enjoy the look of its timeless design and the substantial feel on my wrist, all complaints about the date complication goes away.

So if you are fortunate enough to buy one, you should go ahead and do so. Wear it for a few years and if you don't like it you can probably sell it for at least what you paid...I know mine is not for sale, not anytime soon.

Rolex Daytona- rare, beautiful, and worth every cent!
written by Guest , September 01, 2008

As a fairly new Rolex Daytona owner (waiting list for 2 years), I concur with the statements made before me about availability, and cost. The watch speaks for itself (if real) and I am impressed with it more each day. Whether it is an object of love, desire, investment, or indulgence, wanting one is no sin, and owning one sheer pleasure. Of course other than its' aesthetic beauty, and the feeling of confidence and pride one gets in owning a very high quality ANYTHING (it is first and foremost an unquestioned serious timepiece and item of jewelry), lots of Rolex owners simply LIVE for the reactions of others to the watch. It reflects different things to different people, owners and viewers alike. It outlast owners, and will increase in value each year. I trust other owners will enjoy theirs as much as I do mine. I also own a Movado Men's diamond Eliro, and while stylish and elegant in its' own right, the Rolex is a whole other animal.

Beware of fake Daytona's
written by Guest , September 01, 2008

I love my Daytona, I bought it off my Uncle from an Estate sale. I was not aware of the "Molex" watches that are floating around of this model. There apparently is such demand for the Daytona's that there are plenty of dead on knock offs available. I guess they are easy enough to spot just based on our sweeping hand, but he was telling me that some are incredibly well made and would fool the untrained eye. So buyer beware.

Great watch
written by Guest , September 01, 2008

This watch is perfect, but it is true that it is very hard to get. I had to purchase a s/s Submariner $4700, s/yg Submariner $7600, and a p/s yachtmaster $7800. This totals over $21,000 with tax. I still had to wait over a year for the white faced one. This is worth the wait though. The best watch I have ever owned. I own over 100 watches for citizen to rolex and this one by far is the best and anyone who knows rolexs are in awe if you have one of these.

So hard to get, had to go to Malasia

If its so close to impossible to get than why can I order it right now off of this site? Plenty in stock, it will take 1-2 weeks. Maybe you should should stick to Casio's.

Worth it at any price!
written by Guest , December 14, 2008

This watch is the finest timepiece one can encounter in their lives. However, you have better odds of seeing the abominable snowman in person. I spent seven years on multiple waiting lists till I was able to acquire the white dial 116520 (the rarest daytona)at RRP ($9925 as of Nov 200smilies/cool.gif. This watch has appreciated 45% in retail price since I have been looking for it. If you see one buy it (it's not a practical purchase, but grants the wearer the ultimate exclusivity because of its sheer rarity). Regard it as artwork and you'll enjoy your purchase.

Worth The Price and Wait
written by Guest , June 07, 2009

I recenly purchased a new 116520 with white dial from may ARD after waiting well over 5 years. Actually the 116520 Watch in either White or Black dial now retails for $9900 at Authorized Dealers. You will not find one on the "grey market" for $9000. I do agree that it appears that the watch is not in stock and will be purchased off the grey market but most likely only for a $500-$700 markup which is a fair price to pay if you are not willing to wait several years to obtain one from your ARD. That said, one should be very aware of variations of the 116520 model - things like the "ROLEXROLEXROLEX" engraving being present on the inner rim of the case on later models as well as the presence of the Blue hairspring in the movement. Regardless of how you obtain one - grey market or waiting on a list with your ARD as I did it is well worth the wait and worth every penny to own this watch.

Classic but not trendy today.
written by Guest , July 30, 2009

I bought this watch back in 2003 and I was very happy with it. Now a couple of years later I use it every now and then but it doesn't trill me as it did time ago. The reason is because watches now are different, they are more fashionable. Well talking about watches may be complicated because in the past you were completed with just one watch but not any more. There are watches for suits, for casual clothes, steel, yellow or white gold, strap, no strap diamonds, no diamonds (even on men). So going back to what I was saying before, today rubber is hot in watches as several materials (ceremic, titannium) and something very important today. Watches are big now. The Rolex Daytona is 40mm and now the minimum suggested size is 44mm (I can't understand why Rolex doesn't refreshes its collection). Any typical male watch from the past looks for women's now. Another negative thing about this model is that it doesn't have date (big mistake). Well anyway, this watch is also a classic, is pretty and basiclly looks good with everything and the price is not very high (I know that's not a small amount but prices nowadays are really high). My advice is to look for several options and never by a watch by photo, go to a jewerly store, see it and try it on, and is also nice when you have a watch that not necessarily everybody has. Rolex and Rolex Daytona is a watch that lots and lots and lots and lots of people own, try something different it's also a another advice that I can give.

Right place and the right time
written by Guest , July 30, 2009

After talking to the dealer and then reviewing the sites I'm starting to think I should have also bought a lottery ticket. My wife and I walked into a local jewelers to buy a watch for my birthday and after looking at several types and brands the salesman, (a friend) leaned over the counter and said i have something else to show you. He asked the owner to get the "Daytona" and as soon as I saw it I knew that was the watch. My wife also knew that we weren't going to leave the store without it. The salesman further told us that there was a waiting list but because of the local economy people on the list couldn't afford it, so right place, right time. Yes it cost slightly over 10K but this is something that will be passed down to one of my sons, and grandsons, and possibly even further. How's that for a legacy.
