This is the perfect "man" watch. It is dressy and casual. The size and construction is great and the deep blue face color is beautiful. It looks great and also the fact that it is water proof and able to go so deep
makes it the perfect "man" watch. My boyfriend is not a watch man, but he better love it or it's going to my father.

I have been an admirer of Bulova watches for years. After receiving the Marine Star 98C62 for Christmas I was ecstatic. After three months the pins to the band broke. Nothing uncommon, however after the factory pins breaking I was getting the pins replaced monthly, and sometimes weekly, depending on the activities I was involved in. I finally had enough and called Bulova and they said to mail the watch in so they could hopefully resolve the problem. After sending it back after only owning the watch for 6 months I received my watch back with the hopes the problem would finally be resolved. Not the case. The very next day the wrist pin broke. I called into Bulova with my complaint and told them how unsatisfied I was. I was informed by the manager that they were aware of problems with the watch band and that the pin was to thin for the weight of the watch. I was given the option to pick another watch of my choice at no cost and was instructed to choose one with a different band. I chose the 98h25 and am hoping to not have this problem occur again. With the watch itself I have had no problems but the durability of the band has been a great disappointment, and the fact that they are willing to bite the cost to replace my watch with one of greater value really speaks volumes.

Can't beat the price, great value on a very good and stylish watch.
The only thing is that the background is alot darker than it looks in the picture, but still love it.

I purchased this watch after rather exhaustively reviewing the many, many offerings at Amazon.com. When it first arrived, I found myself vaguely let down. Somehow, it didn't seem quite as striking as in the photos. But as the weeks have gone by, my opinion has completely turned around on that. This watch is really very beautiful, and the numerous compliments I've now received serve as confirmation. It also appears to be extremely accurate and, contrary to some other reviews, setting it (including day and date) was not at all difficult. Do remember that it has a screw-down crown; you need to unscrew it before actually pulling out the stem. That is NOT explained, at all, in the (very inadequate) instruction manual.
Is this equal to an Omega automatic diver's watch, which has a similar appearance? I'm sure it's not. But, then, it only costs about 1/10th as much. It very likely equals or exceeds similar Invictas as well as any similar Citizen or Seiko watch.
I've not owned it long enough to speak of its durability. But I tend to be hard on watches, and I've already subjected this one to some small abuses. So far, it remains flawless, suggesting that they've really used top-rank materials in its construction.
Sadly, one reason I bought this watch no longer holds true. I knew it was made overseas (Japan, I believe), but that's true of virtually all watches. I am not sure, in fact, if a single watch (including movement) is still made here, and certainly nothing that's affordable. But I was under the impression that Bulova remained a U.S.-owned company, and that they still at least designed all their offerings here. And they may indeed still do that. But earlier this year the company was purchased by Citizen Watch Co. of Japan. No more U.S. involvement save for whatever facilities the new owners decide to keep here.
Note that I purchased this directly from Amazon.com. Shipping was as promised, with it arriving a few days sooner than I expected. I have had no occasion to test their warranty service or return policies. I could have saved $10-$15 by buying from one of the other vendors at Amazon. But that vendor had a significant number of poor reviews (I think running over 10%), and I didn't think saving a few bucks was worth dealing with a dubious vendor.

Great:
The dial is gorgeous. It has a deep, rich looking blue color. The picture does not do it justice.
The bracelet has a high degree of precision in its design and assembly. I think this is a reason why many people say the watch feels more expensive than it is. Love it.
Be aware of:
The watch is fairly large to begin with, but it looks even bigger because the dial and the bezel are of the same color. It looks great on large hands; not so good on small ones.
Bad:
The dial window material is soft. It is easy to scratch, which is a shame, really, because many (most?) manufacturers in this price range offer scratch-resistant dial windows. I scratched it by a plastic shirt button. So, if you tend to be rough with you watches - this is not your watch.
Conclusion:
Judging by the name - Marine star - you may assume it is some sort of an outdoors watch. It is not. A gentle dial makes it a strictly dress watch. However, as a dress watch, it is a great piece at a great price. I will say it again - I love it.

If you are thinking about purchasing the Bulova Men's Marine Star Watch I highly recommend it. Obviously for the price it's not a Swiss automatic watch, but why pay thousands of dollars for a name? A solid quartz watch will keep just as good if not better time. The Bulova has the feel of a great watch, it looks great, and is 1/10 the price of the Swiss versions. It has all of the features of a watch that is much more expensive. Do yourself a favor and seriously consider the Bulova. I looked at several other brands in it's price range including Invicta, ESQ, Citizen and Seiko and this is the watch most like the Rolex Submariner or Omega Seamaster.

I like this particular Bulova Marine Star watch. I've always have a high regard for Bulova watches and in fact this is my 5th watch I've bought in 8 years, including the pair I bought for me and my wife before we got married. For the price, Bulova is a bargain, a steal if you may call it. I like the deep blue color of its dial and the dial's size is just right for me.

I had a bulova watch that looked very similar for years. Somehow I broke it while in Jamica (I was very hard on it) and took it to my local repair shop and was told it would cost $100 to fix and there was no gurantee that it would work as well as before. So of course I took this as a sign to buy a new watch.
I went to every store in the mall looking for a replacement. Each time I left empty handed. My wife asked what I was looking for and I said my old watch, which appears to be discontinued. My wife went on Amazon and found the Marine Star Watch that looks similar to my old Bulova Watch.
First of all I love the Bulova and have bought 5 watches for myself or gifts in the last 5 years and they all work perfectly.
The Pros:
1. I know that Bulova is quality and will be maintance free.
2. I have a very large wrist and the Bulova fits great (I could even take out a link if need be.
3. The price is great and I will not leave Bulova until I am ready to buy a Rolex or other ultra high end brand.
4. Keeps great time.
The Cons
1.My Marine Star appeared to look a little more dull than the picture would suggest.
2. It was very hard for me to set the time, I was afraid I was going to break the watch as the knob seemed to stick. I have never had this problem before so I am chalking it up to specific to my watch only.
THe Marine Star is a great watch and a really nice price. It looks great on a big guy like myself.

I purchased this watch a month ago and I love it!!!! I have worn it every day banged it around got it wet (not diving) in a pool. I have found the crystal to be very scratch resistant. The bracelet is very nice and I found the watch to be very easy to set. I was looking into an Omega or Rolex and decided to try a less expensive watch first. I am so happy i dont think i will be trying the high end watch anytime soon. For the price if something happens to the watch it is not a big deal and for under 200 the watch could be replaced.
