Jazzy watch, Lacks other features.
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

If you want to buy me a gift for christmas, don't get me a wristwatch. Not because I don't like wristwatches, I love them. I'm just extremely picky about the right kind of watch. When it comes to watches, I'm a tough customer. Why? A good watch is something that's ALWAYS on your person! A good watch should last 3-5 years on average. Additionally, I want a wrist watch that has a vibrating alarm, chronometer, compass and ideally a temperature gauge as well ALL in analog! That said, this watch is a decent product. I only give it three stars because it lacks the other features I crave for a watch, but for it's solid design and chronometer, it's great. I would have preferred the option of a metal band, but for the price, this is a VERY professional-looking pilot-like watch.

Great watch, great price
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

I bought this watch at Target for $75. I should have bought it on Amazon for $60.

This watch looks great, elegant and casual. Even the leather band is both elegant and casual.

It is stainless steel and water resistant to 100 meters, allowing swimming and snorkeling. It is not too heavy, despite it's thickness.

The chonograph is fun easy to use and fun to play with. The alarm is easy to set. The indiglo light and "night mode" makes it even more useful than my citizen chronograph.

very good
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

I like this, price good.

Mechanically good.

If its posshible, I like little thiner.

Good, but not so good
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

The watch is great in every respect except one. White hands on a white background make it really hard to read, especially in dim light.

Great choice!
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

For the money, this is a terrific watch: it looks more expensive than it sells for, is very easy to set & use the other functions, & is a nice size and weight. All-in-all, you cannot go wrong purchasing this watch--for your-self or as a gift.

good

This is a excellent watch a good product, an I get it in my country with out problem

Very pleased.
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

Overall, a good value for a solid, attractive, multi-function watch.

Substantial feel but not too heavy. Leather band is comfortable and attractive. Can select to move only the hour hand and that's handy when crossing time zones or when setting the calendar date. Alarm works well and is easy to set. Wish the minute hand was a bit thicker; it sometimes take a half-second or so to discern it on the busy watch face. Would have preferred a rotating minute bezel rather than the fixed tachymeter bezel but not a big deal.

Some have complained that the chronograph second hand doesn't reset to the 12:00 position. That's because they played with the buttons before reading all the instructions and accidentally pressed the time-set crown while the second hand was resetting (like I did). This is easily fixed by pressing the time-set crown just as the second hand crosses the 12 position (or whatever position you want the second hand to reset to).

Good Watch with Good features...
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

I bought the Black Face Timex Expedition watch for $62.43 that was eligible for supersaver shipping and satisfied with the price.

I like the appearance of the watch..looks rugged and bold. The black face, ring and band is nice. The contrast is good...white against black. The Indiglo blue background light is good too, although it could be a tad brighter tho. It has a feature to keep the Indiglo light burning for three seconds after pushing the button if you desire, then turns off.

The alarm feature works well, loud enough and is accurate. Setting the time, alarm and working the chronograph is relatively easy.

My only real contention with the watch is the second hand. The main second hand shown in the images is not for actual passage of seconds, but for the chronograph. The ongoing seconds are constantly shown in the smaller face at the six o'clock position. By not having the larger second move in time with the 60 seconds, and gives the appearance of the watch being off, but in fact...it is keeping time. Sometimes I activate the chronograph to keep the minute in motion, but it turns off and resets after four hours. The chronograph ring does not turn as in other chronograph watches, but that doesn't bother me.

The weight is solid and you know you are wearing a watch. I like that. But the face crystal is too flat and fingerprints and other smudges are easily deposited on the face, which requires constant wiping if you like a clean watch face.

It will perform well in dark astronomical sessions

I recommend the watch despite the drawbacks listed.

Joe

Failure
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

First watch, a chronograph, did not reset the sweep second hand to zero, but to +4 seconds. I sent it back, they sent another one and on that one, the minute hand reset to plus one minute. That's not good for a chronograph. I sent that one back also and cancelled the order.

Amazing
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

The watch that i purchased from the seller is an amazing time piece....very fast delivery...and i love my new watch

Best watch ever
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

I paid under a hundred dollars for this watch over ten years ago. It keeps excellent time, within five seconds a month, and the band and case have held up very well.

I cracked the crystal on the edge about 4 years ago, but got used to it and kept wearing it as is. Well the other day it got very hot and to its demise the twelve o'clock indicator fell of. It's now swimming inside the crystal, so I have to retire it.

I love it so much, I am buying another. I have other more expensive watches, but I don't know why, because this is the one I wear ninety-nine percent of the time.

A great price for a great watch!

Seiko Watch
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

Great watch. It is the latest incarnation of the first watch I bought during my first summer job out of High School back in the late 70's. It is excellent, compact, and very durable.

BUY AN EXTRA BAND while it is still an in-stock item. The band is the one part that wears out.

Great time piece
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

great watch, stylish, slim, durable, accurate, great price, date in english and spanish, hands glow in the dark enough to read the time, the only thing is that you have to adjust the date on some months because of long and short months (29 vs 31 days/month).

I highly recomend this watch, is a must have

A good watch for telling time
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

This is a simple, straightforward, classic style watch for those who want to know the time, day and date. It is not novelty jewelery that you will throw away after a few months. The white face makes the hands easy to read and the hands glow well in the dark. The stainless steel case and band wear well without showing age. I particularly like the smaller sized links on this band which make it flexible and easy to wear. The band sizing is easy to perform. This is actually the second watch of this same model I purchased just to have a spare in case the model is cancelled. The first one actually lost time after 12 months, but Seiko replaced the movement under the 3 year warranty (save your receipt). Otherwise it is very accurate and reliable. I expect to get at least 5 years use; my prior Seikos ran for 20 years.

Seiko Classic
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

Clean, crisp styling in a Seiko Classic. I bought an earlier iteration of this watch in Japan in 1969 and wore it for 30 years. After that, no other watch I tried seemed right, so I bought this one. My best bet is that 30 years from now, Seiko will still be making a watch that looks just like this one -- it has that kind of timeless appeal.

Big Bold, Beautiful and I Have the Whole Series
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

There are five watches in this series of Expedition chronographs and with the arrival of this one, I have them all and I love each one.

I ordered this one last because the picture of this watch was not that appealing to me, but I must say that of the five, this is the most beautiful one.

The blue color in the photo is somewhat flat, but the rich color and the dial's texture combined with the engraved stainless bezel and stainless bracelet give this watch a rich look that rivals watches costing many times more.

OK
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

nice watch but it looks cheap (what you do not see on the picture...); the functions are OK, the provided manual was wrong

awesome
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

I got the watch for my husband as a gift and he has really enjoyed it!

Cool watch, great service
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

I got this watch from Bike Somewhere. When it came, one of the buttons didn't work. I emailed the seller but didn't get a response right away. So I phoned and the person I talked to said he'd send me a new watch and I could send back the bad one after I got the new one. It came almost immediately. But there still seemed to be a problem with it. So I called again, talked to the same guy -- who told me he had tested the watch before sending it -- and he stepped me through the operations over the phone. (The written instructions that came with the watch weren't 100% accurate -- I think they were written for a slightly different model -- and I had misinterpreted part of it besides.)

The upshot is -- the watch works great, keeps good time, looks cool, and the support from Bike Somewhere is A-1.

Really nice
written by Guest , July 24, 2008

Another present for a friend of mine. Love them for the stylish look - more expensive then they are, - and for the quality of make. The price and delivery service were perfect. Was hesitating at some point to keep them for myself smilies/smiley.gif

Good Watch
written by Guest , August 05, 2008

Great looking watch. Only problem is that within 1 week, one of the two loops for the strap broke and it is hardly worthwhile to send it back for repair. I suppose a watch shop can replace the strap easily/cheaply. Time will tell.

I like it
written by Guest , August 05, 2008

I like it and would buy it again. Likes: fairly inexpensive, looks good, good elapsed timer, easy set alarm, glows brightly in the dark and the light is cool. Weaknesses: Tachymeter is stupid (measures nothing worthy of measurement), the Tachymeter white against black is too bright, the wrist band is stiff and needs to be yanked to put the watch on (makes me wonder how long it'll last), and the minute hand sometimes hides the elapsed timer. I like that it has old school hands and dials instead of digital readouts, and yet it also has the features of a digital watch with alarm and elapsed timer.

Nothing Better
written by Guest , August 05, 2008

Everything about this watch is awesome. I have never had a better watch... ever. Only complaint is that the loose perpendicular strip of leather that holds the band in place does not do its job very well. It slides up off the band and the band ends up hanging down. I haven't found a way to fix it yet, but I'm working on it. However, that is a small complaint compared to the awesomeness of this relatively inexpensive timepiece... Just look at it!!

Really nice watch for an excellent price
written by Guest , August 05, 2008

I got this watch for my husband's birthday. He loved it! I purchased it to replace his old work watch and he will only wear it for good. It looks great on his wrist. Very Masculine!

Simple and Elegant
written by Guest , August 05, 2008

I have had this watch for almost two weeks. It's been good so far. First under $60 this watch is worth every penny. It looks very professional. 2 things I hate about the watch is that the strap will wear out within 1-2 year and If you have sweaty wrist you can easily stain the leather strap. Overall a very good buy EXCEPT FOR THE SECONDS HAND STOPPING EVERY 4 HOURS !!! but not a big deal one click and back to where it is.

Description is WRONG!
written by Guest , August 17, 2008

I bought this watch over others mainly because the feature list clearly states "dual time zone" which is key for me. I don't know why Amazon would say this when it is very clear when the watch arrived that this is most definitely NOT a dual time zone watch. The picture shows some extra hands; both of these hands are for the alarm. Neither one is involved with a separate time zone. Some more research on the web revealed that Timex does not claim this is a dual time zone watch and neither does anyone else on the web. Amazon just fabricated that feature out of thin air! Very disappointing. But if, like me, you need a two time zone watch, look elsewhere.

Great Watch
written by Guest , September 04, 2008

This is the best watch I've had in a long time. I am a Commercial Pilot & Flight Instructor, this watch has everything I need: tachymeter, alarm, stop watch, and an EXCELLENT light for night use (even the 3 small dials are viewable). It's a nice size without being too heavy. It's a little thicker than I'd like but other than that - there's no flaws in design.

Highly recommended !

Timex Expedition Chronograph
written by Guest , September 24, 2008

The watch is nice looking but a little tough to read. Being a Timex, I'm sure it's bulletproof. It functions well, easy to set and reset the chronograph functions.

My only real negative thing is that it is rather thick for its diameter.

Rugged design meets practical functionality
written by Guest , September 24, 2008

As many have already stated with this product, the Expedition Premium Collection Chronograph Watch is really well designed and a great value. I was looking for a timepiece that would be useful outdoors and while at play, but at the same time be professional enough for me to wear at the office. This watch delivers on that and then some. A really well built and solid product that holds up to what you would expect from the Timex brand.

You can't go wrong with Timex
written by Guest , October 19, 2008

This is such an awesome watch, I bought four of them. I sent one to my brother for his birthday and he loves it. I wear three of them, alternating days, a black face, blue, and the all white dials face. They all look really great and perform their functions flawlessly. I particularly like the Timex "Indiglo" feature, it is so useful and works so well. I don't mind the thickness or weight, it is as rugged as they get. For those who are watch snobs, I say wearing a Timex demonstrates your no-nonsense attitude toward exceptional value for the reasonable price of these watches and timeless durability and function. I have two Timex watches that are over forty years old and still operate perfectly.

You, simply, can't go wrong investing in a Timex watch, and this Chronograph shows your good taste and common sense.

Very nice watch, like the features
written by Guest , December 18, 2008

Purchased for myself Dec. 2008. I did not have any problems with any of the features. I recommend you actually READ the directions that come with the watch. The directions seem like a lot when you open them, but they are written in several different languages, so the English version is not really that long. The directions clearly explain that you need to calibrate the chronograph by setting all the dials to zero; after you do that, it works perfectly. The quick set alarm is so easy to set you will be amazed, all watches and clocks should allow setting alarm this simply. The alarm is not going to wake the dead, but it is plenty loud enough to wake any normal person from a deep sleep. I would highly recommend this watch to anyone who likes an analog watch, with alarm and chrono that is easy to use with just minutes of practice.

Not a real chronograph
written by Guest , December 18, 2008

I thought it was a real chronograph but it is not. To me, a real chronograph has three small dials registering seconds, minutes up to an hour and hours up to 12 hours. On this watch, the small dials register seconds, minutes up to one-half hour and 20ths of a second which is useless to me. I wanted a chronograph that measured hours of lapsed times. I sent it back.

Design flaw
written by Guest , December 18, 2008

No doubt this is one beautiful looking watch but it has one major design flaw as far as I'm concerned - the glass face sits slightly above the bezel. Not very well protected for an "Expedition Premium" watch. Had the face been recessed a bit my review would of been up to 3 stars. But unfortunately Timex lost 2 stars with me because the Indiglo was defective (didn't cover the entire face) so I was forced to return.

Incredible value
written by Guest , December 18, 2008

For the money this watch is an incredible value. The IP black finish over stainless steel looks great and the overall presentation of the watch looks very high quality. The watch has good weight on the wrist and is easy to read. In addition to the electroluminesent Indiglo dial the watch also has luminous hands and hour markers that glow quite bright for the entire night after exposure to light so the watch is easy to read in the dark even without turning on the Indiglo dial. The chrono features work well. The only negative is the alarm which can barely be heard (at least by me). Otherwise, I highly recommend this watch.

Great Deal
written by Guest , December 18, 2008

Got this watch 5 weeks ago and I love it. Looks awesome and the alarm functions (12 hour/<1 hour) work great. Don't panic like other reviewers if the chronograph hands are not aligned when you get the watch or if they go out of alignment. Just read the manual and its very easy to re-align them.

Some things you might want to know
written by Guest , December 27, 2008

I bought this watch because of the way it looks. I was going to buy the Timex Expedition T47902, another Expedition, about the same price, most notably the alarm is set by the face dial. That watch would have been cool, but in a world of a billion watch styles, appearance is everything. I like digitals, but they just come off Geeky with any kind of clothing, IMO.

1. The watch isn't white as shown in the picture. The face is ivory colored, and the hands are luminescent. No, they don't glow as well as the old radium watches, but you won't give you cancer either. IMO, gives the watch more character, and the dial is more legible than I expected.

2. The watch is thicker than I expected, mainly when you view it on end with one of the straps facing you. Less of a problem than I thought at first. It doesn't look thick from the crown side, and wearing the watch, no one, including you, views it from the side, maybe an ant crawling on your wrist band. Smash him before he bites you. I like the way it looks on my wrist.

3. The battery lasts 4 years. Wow. If I get two, from playing with the Indiglo button too much, I'll be happy.

4. For $5, paid to Timex, you can extend the warranty by 4 years, making it a 5 year warranty. Hmmm...if the watch won't tick, glow, alarm, chronograph, etc. they will fix or replace, as long as the face isn't broken. If you hit the face just right, you could break it, but it's odds for survival are better than yours, you name the activity.

5. The watch is water resistant to 100M, not 165ft, Timex website.

6. The instructions, and box the watch comes in are rather Spartan, almost funny, you really don't need either much. You don't have worry about paying for a fancy box. The instructions is a rolled up piece of tissue paper, used for half the watches they make, and in 3 different languages. On one piece of tissue paper? Yeah, the writing is small. It's sort of a test. It does tell you how to initialize the chronometer, and it does tell you not to push the buttons under water. It tells you nothing about how a chronometer works, so if you don't already know, their instructions are cryptic. The Timex website is not much better. They are saving on words there too.

7. I found out through Google that the chronometer on this watch actually works, and the dial at the 2 o'clock position actually does function. It's a stopwatch. How about that? The dial at the 6 o'clock position functions as the second hand, like what you are used to on a regular watch with a second hand. The large second hand sweep is fixed at 12 o'clock, until you press the upper button on the right. When pushed, the large sweep measures the seconds, the dial at the 10 o'clock position measure minutes elapsed up to 30 minutes, and the dial at the 2 o'clock position remains fixed. When the button is pushed again, like a stopwatch, second and minute sweeps stop to show elapsed time, and a that point the 2 o'clock dial shifts to tell you how many tenths of a second, to add to the elapsed minutes and seconds. The button at the lower left resets the chronometer.

8. The instructions said something about the lower left button also working with split timing, but I couldn't understand how it worked. As you can tell, all this is new to me, so If someone else can help, that would be nice.

9. The alarm operates from the lower right crown/button. It works well, but probably not as convenient as a dial operated alarm, like the T47902. I don't know for sure. I didn't buy that watch. There are some tradeoffs here. Cool looking water resistant chronometer vs. nifty dial alarm. What can I say? The need to be macho to the max overtook me. Hooah.

The watch is fun, not a big investment, looks cool, and I'll never have to worry about taking it off for fear of an activity breaking the watch. Damn the torpedoes. I say buy the watch if you like the way it looks.

Good watch for the money.
written by Guest , December 28, 2008

The watch is basic. All I needed and it was half off on Amazon so I picked it up. I like it. It serves the simplicty of my daily life. Lights up bright and I like the leather band. Probably far better watches out there for the money, but I wanted something simple and with a leather band. I do not like the rubberbands that make my wrist sweat in the summer.

Excellent Watch
written by Guest , January 10, 2009

I purchased this watch from Amazon as a retirement gift for my father. He absolutely loved it. It is a very a simple yet elegant watch, good for both daily wearing and for special days. No other site can beat Amazon's price...

Great Watch!
written by Guest , January 10, 2009

I received my Timex yesterday, and this is a great watch at a good price. It looks fantastic, very masculine, not too big, not too little. It has a solid feel but is not overly heavy on my wrist. The strap is very nice quality water resistant leather. The watch/chrono/alarm functions work fine, it just takes a little while to get used to the large second hand being stationary unless the chrono function is turned on. The alarm function is nice, and easy to set and use. There are alarm markers for both the hour and the minute, and you can set the alarm two different ways. The chrono will show up to 30 minutes total elapsed time and will reset after 4 hours. So, if you want to time something over 30 minutes, you can set the minutes or minutes and hour alarm markers at the start time in a similar manner to using a rotating bezel on a dive watch. The bezel on this watch is fixed and has the scale for mph that can be used with the chrono function to determine speed over a one mile distance. I would by this watch again, and will wear it a lot. I received the usual good service from Amazon and might just buy another version (color) of this watch.

Nice Chronograph
written by Guest , January 10, 2009

This is a great looking chronograph. Although it took me some time to figure out how to set the chronograph, it is quite simple once you get the hang of it. Unfortunately, the user manual is a little confusing and that is why most users find it difficult to reset the sub-dials to 0. The main seconds hand is actually for the stopwatch and the sub-dial at 6'O clock shows the seconds. Alarm is loud enough and easy to set with the button at 4'O Clock.

To reset the chronograph sub-dials to 0, first pull out Crown to 1st position, press the button at 8'O Clock to set the Minutes Sub-dial at 10. Pull the Crown again to the 2nd position, press the button at 8'O Clock to set the 1/10-Second sub-dial at 2. Then press the button at 2'O Clock to set the Seconds Needle.

The leather strap is fine but i preferred something more sporty and broader so i replaced it with a black Fast-wrap nylon strap from Voguestrap and now it looks even better.

TX977761L, Timex watchband, Fast - Wrap Expedition, 16-20mm, Black, Adjustable, Long

I would have given it a 5-star but the stop-watch only goes upto Half and Hour.

NICE WATCH BUT..........
written by Guest , January 24, 2009

What was received pretty fast but looking at the watch online as opposed to out of the box is very small like a females watch. was expecting it to be a bit more chunky (i.e - 42mm or more ) and the band although good material is slim. Not a good buy if you like big chronos.

Nice but unreliable alarm
written by Guest , February 11, 2009

I have just returned the second Timex Chrono Alarm Watch with an unreliable alarm after a few days/weeks of use. It just doesn't sound every now and then, probably every once in 10 to 20 times, failure rate increases over time. A shame since the watch is very nice and keeps the time very accurately. We have had 5 Timex watches in the family over the past ~6 years. Out of those 5, 3 had to be returned due to failures. The other two have run for ~4 and ~6 years with no problem now. While these two certainly provide a good value for the money, a success rate of 40% is not very convincing and the idea to outsource quality control to the customer might be fashionable but will hopefully not turn out a successful business strategy after all.

Date too small
written by Guest , February 11, 2009

Nice watch, good weight, but I was unable to see the date clearly in standard room lighting... a necessity for me. That might not be an issue for others, so for them, check it out: great price, decent functional "work watch."

SUPER WATCH
written by Guest , March 09, 2009

THIS TIMEX CHRONOGRAPH WATCH IS (IN MY OPINION), ONE OF THE BEST FOR THE MONEY. I PURCHASED MY FIRST T42351 CHRONOGRAPH WATCH 18 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAS BEEN RUNNING GREAT EVER SINCE. I LIKED IT SO MUCH, THAT I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A SECOND "BACK-UP" WATCH FROM AMAZON AT A BARGAIN PRICE $12 LESS THAN WHAT I PAID FOR MY FIRST WATCH. JUST TAKE THAT FUNKY LEATHER WATCH BAND OFF AND TOSS IT; REPLACE WITH THE TIMEX FAST-WRAP, WATER-RESISTANT, 16-20MM BAND. GREAT WATCH/BAND COMBO. AGAIN, THIS IS A REALLY NICE CHRONOGRAPH WATCH, AT (IN MY OPINION) A GREAT PRICE. AMAZON DID ME GOOD W/THIS ONE.

I was hoping...
written by Guest , April 15, 2009

I started out looking for a good kick-around watch. Wanted waterproof and durable, and an alarm was a nice-to-have option. I'll be wearing it when doing yard work and other rough stuff, like backpacking, canoeing, etc. Things I use my nice watch for, but would rather not.

After reading all the reviews for this one and for the one with the white face, I decided to go for it. For under $50, how could I go wrong, and most seemed to have good experiences.

Got it in usual super fast fashion, thanks to Amazon Prime. Pulled it out of the box and it is really a beautiful watch. Not too big, light, but with some good heft.

But the crown wouldn't push all the way in. No matter what I tried, it just wouldn't work.

So, reluctantly, I boxed it up and sent it back. And went back onto Amazon to order another one, this time paying extra for the expedited delivery.

Got that one, and everything was perfect. Looked great, fit great, all the functions worked great. Until a few hours later, I noticed that the second hand (that functions as the chronograph second hand) wouldn't re-set to zero. It was about 1/2 second off. Again, I tried everything, but couldn't get it to zero out. In fact, when the chronograph was working the second hand was 1/2 second off all around. So, for example, at 1 second, the hand was at 1/2 second. At 10 seconds it was at 9 1/2 seconds. And so on.

That may be a very nit picky reason to reject the watch, but my feeling is if something small is wrong, what's next?

So I just boxed THAT one up and will send it back today. And I'll be out the expedited shipping cost.

Should I order a third one and take a chance? I don't think so. I've always been a "you get what you paid for" guy, and I think that may be the case here. A deal that turned out to be too good to be true.

Attractive functions and appearance, but very thick and heavy. Hope I'm strong enough to wear it!

Fantastic watch, Timex still the best deal in watches

I wasn't even looking for an analog chrono when I bought this watch, but that's how much it intrigued me. It has not disappointed. Like every other Timex I have had, this is one is extremely legible, accurate, and tough as nails. The chronograph works extremely well, and it is a true chronograph not a fancy date dial, and the analog alarm is surprisingly simple to use and versatile. One note though, an initial description I had read said that the alarm was a vibrating alarm, however this is not the case, it's actually an audible beeping in conjunction with the Indiglo flashing. I do a lot of trail running and cycling and this watch has taken some hits and not skipped a beat, and it really does look fantastic. Highly recommended.

great price for an awesome watch

surprise to see this on Amazon again. I bought this 2 years ago and it disappeared from Timex website afterward. Thought they stopped making this model. My criteria for a watch after my Seiko, Longines, Tag are: see in the dark, have date, waterproof at least 300ft, and I found this. Chrono and alarm are bonus. Not too big nor too small. After 2 years, 2 dives at 70ft and the band still looks new. In movie theatre, Indiglo is awesome. I used the alarm function on my vacation trips to wakeup only me w/o waking up my wife. Another great feature is advance hour. It's great for quick adjust date (30/31), travel (time zones), and daylight saving. It doesn't move the minute arm. With this price I can buy new one every 3 years. Highly recommend if you like the look, very masculine. Wish they make it with matte black, or red dial, then I'll buy them all.

Great Value

I got this watch for cycling and everyday use. I didnt want anything really fancy and I didnt feel like getting a digital watch. I have small wrists and this watch doesnt look too big at all. The alarm is okay and the overall quality of the watch is top-notch. I would definitively recommend this watch to a friend.

great watch

the watch i purchased was everything i expected!! it was delivered very quickly and is a very beautiful watch. I'm a groundskeeper and have a very rugged lifestyle and this is one of the few watches that have lasted the test of brutality!! overall an outstanding deal!!!!

Awesome Watch

Great watch very good looking has great functions, still kind of confused with setting and using the alarm. But overall nice watch durable has a nice light.

Great watch, great price.

I bought this watch for running. I wanted something water resistant with a chronograph that wasn't digital. I love the looks of the watch, and it's a good weight on my wrist. Chronograph is easy to use unless it's in the 10:00 hour (the hour hand obscures the chronograph's minute counter). The alarm is amazingly simple to use. Don't see much use for the Tachymeter; would rather see something more of a diver's timer on the watch.

Excellent watch at a bargain price

I just returned from using this watch while taking scuba training in Maui. While not billed as a dive watch, it worked just fine at 50 ft under water and was easily readable. The watch is stylish and easy to read ( I'm 63). The band had no trouble with salt water and is quite comfortable. The tip of the strap tends to come out of the retaining strap, but that is really the only problem I have had with the watch. READING THE DIRECTIONS is critical with this watch. It has unique ways to set alarms and to set up the chronograph, as well as different time zones. Once learned, you will wonder why other watches don't use th same system. Highly recommend this watch.

Just Ok

The watch did not actually look new when it arrived and the plastic holder was broken. Also, the screen disappears for a fraction of a second whenever the start button is pressed. Otherwise the watch is working ok

Excellent watch, this is the third one I purchase this year, one for my little brother, the second one for my girl friend father's and of course one for me.

Have to say is pretty looking watch, good quality and even better was the price. Strongly recommended!

exactness

i went shopping for a wrist watch that will project solidity, durability, precision and style. Overall my desire was to project an image of competence and trustworthiness...intangibles that needs to somehow be made tangible to my numerous clients...

this Timex, i believe, does exactly that...or at least makes me feel that way.

Who would dream it's a Timex?
written by Guest , June 28, 2009

This watch is in an entirely different category from most Timex watches. It's solid. It looks tough. It feels expensive.

As I shopped for a new watch, I kept coming back to this one. It stands apart from other watches. I think it's because of the serious look of the white on black. It looks a bit like a piece of military equipment. It's also just the right amount of chunky, but not too big. It's 38 mm across, not including the crown and a little over 40 mm with the crown. Perfect for a guy who's not huge.

I like the analog alarm setting. It can be set either for minutes only (like 20 minutes after the current hour) or for a specific hour and minute (for example, 4:15).

The luminescent hands are nice and bright, but it also has a light that works great.

Another handy feature is that the hour hand can be changed without affecting the minute hand. This is great for changing time zones or going from daylight savings to standard time.

One important tip: Read the instructions. It does things that are not immediately apparent.

I waited six weeks before writing a review, so I'd have more experience. The longer I have the watch, the more I like it.

Can someone explain this watch to me?
written by Guest , June 29, 2009

Wow, this thing is confusing. I got the time and date set, I think. But I have no idea how the chronograph works, nor how to move the little eyelet dial or the other dial inside the watch. Does the bezel even twist?

I've read the instructions 20 times, and much of it had 'on some watches it does this' type things, so I'm not sure what MY watch does.

Help please! Thanks.

Watch is good quality for an inexpensive price. However the instructions are difficult to use as the watch in the instructions is a different watch but with similar controls. One would think they could match the watch with instructions.

Great low-priced watch!

I got this watch for myself as a Father's Day gift. I have always wanted a usable chronograph and the price couldn't be better. I even had a "watch snob" compliment it and ask what brand it was. You should have seen his face when I answered, "Timex." I am really loving this watch and it is holding up well so far.

Great watch
written by Guest , August 14, 2009

I am extremely happy with this purchase. After not wearing a watch for 10+ years (since I got a cell phone), I decided to start wearing one again. My work HP iPAQ 'smartphone' is too slow and inconvenient to use for checking the time and it's not waterproof for when I go swimming.

Positives:

-Masculine without being overly large. Looks great on men with smaller wrists.

-White on black looks great. I get a lot of positive comments.

-Chronometer is easy to use once you read the instructions.

-Durable (I've smashed it several times against hard objects - not one mark on the watch).

-Indigo light is fantastic and easy to read.

-Great price - why pay $500+ for a watch?

Negatives:

-The alarm is a nice feature, but it is not very loud - Not loud enough to wake me.

Highly recommended.

Men's Expdedition Premium Watch
written by Guest , October 02, 2009

To set things straight; This "chronograph" watch is nothing more than a stop watch... Don't look at the label and get discouranged from buying it... It's a watch with a stop timer build in... You can time short distance sprints and jogs plus just about anything else you would want to time??

How long does it take your kids to swim across your pool? How long does it take your dog to retrieve your newspaper from the front yard? How long does it take your wife to cook you an egg... (OK, OK.... Let's not go there...) I love the eggs my wife cook... In fact, just in case she's going to read this... I would eat anything she's cooking tonight, shut up and LIKE it... YUUUMMMMMMYYYY...

I've had it for few weeks now and generally speaking, I like it and would buy it again... I do wish however that some of the negatives I list below get addressed, if not, it's not a real big deal, it's still a good watch for the $$$

POSITIVES:

This watch looks and feels great on your wrist.

Works good and keeps time accurately.

Can be worn to work or out on the town, it projects success (which is surprising for what it costs $$).

Feels rugged and long lasting.

NEGATIVES:

A little thicker than I thought it was.

The time handles are the same color as the background so it's not very easy to see the time unless you tilt the watch a bit.

The watch bezels are a little stiff but that's probably because it's new?

The alarm sound is not as loud as other watches I owned.
