Watch description
About Citizen BW0170-08E:
A great choice for an everyday watch, this silver-tone Citizen Eco-Drive 180 stainless steel mens watch matches well with both professional and casual wear. It features a tall rectangular silver watch case that frames a black dial face. Its complemented by thin stick markers, Arabic numerals at the half hour points, and tiny baton hands. Its matched with a supple black leather strap with tonal stitching. Other features include a date window at 3 oclock, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and water resistance to 30 meters (100 feet), which will protect the watch from rain and accidental splashes. This watch is powered by Citizens unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use. This watchs Eco-Drive provides a 365-day power reserve.
Eco-Drive Frequently Asked Questions
How can you tell if the Eco-Drive watch is getting enough light? In normal use, the watch displays the time and the sweep-second hand moves in one second intervals. A very important feature of Eco-Drive is the Low Charge Warning Mode which as a result of low battery voltage, causes the second hand to jump two seconds at a time (while still keeping correct time).
How long will an Eco-Drive watch run after it is fully charged?
If your watch is put away where no light is available to it while in a fully charged state, depending on the model, it will run for from 45 days to 5 years.
How can the Eco-Drive watch be recharged?
Besides sunlight, it can be safely charged by exposing it to a fluorescent desk lamp, with the dial (face) up and within about 8 inches or an incandescent lamp (regular light bulb) no closer than 20 inches. Never use a halogen lamp since the heat generated by it can cause damage to your watch. The most efficient and the quickest is in direct bright sunlight (not windowsill) and never on the dashboard of a car.
About Citizen
One of the worlds largest watch makers, the Citizen Watch Company was founded in 1924 in Japan from its beginnings as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute. The first watch released by the company was named "CITIZEN" and its name was selected so that it would be "close to the hearts of people everywhere." Today, Citizen is recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced timepiece technology, from the worlds slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch to the worlds first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen was also the first to sell watches made with titanium in the world, which is not only light and durable but also non-allergenic (as stainless steel can be to some wearers). Most recently, Citizen has released watches powered by its Eco-Drive, which runs continuously in any kind of natural light or artificial light for a lifetime of use without changing a battery.

I am very happy with this watch. It is very lightweight and sharp-looking. Definitely best for guys with smaller wrists, though. I am very impressed with how well it keeps time; I've had this watch for a month and using the navy master clock as a reference ( http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/timer.pl ) I think in all that time it was was fast by about 3 or 4 seconds. There are two minor complaints though. First of all, the date is a bit small and a little hard to see, and secondly, it is virtually impossible to see the hands in a dark theatre. If you can live with those two things, I definitely recommend this watch.

well, liked it, still like it. but passed it on, as it was too tiny for my taste. i am 6ft1, so shouldnt probably have bought it in first place. but it just looked so cool. and it also did in life.

Small and stylish men's watch. Very lightweight and you never have to worry about a battery!

This is a very attractive watch--looks very expensive for the price, and I find it easy to read for a dress watch. I wish it had glow-in-the-dark hands, and it would be perfect, but it has the features it has. I am a woman who wears size 8 (XL) gloves, and this watch looks great and proportional on me, and would look great--sporty and tailored-- on an average sized woman's hand as well as most men's. It is a smaller man's watch==perhaps a bit larger than "midsize"--the unisex category I often choose. The band has a few smaller notches than my fairly average wrist and many larger ones, so it would fit most wrists comfortably. I like this watch a lot....

This is my second Citizen Eco-Drive watch. My first one is with stainless steel band. It is very good. So, I bought another Eco-Drive watch with leather band which is lighter than my first one. I highly recommend it to anyone who like a watch with light-weighted and no need to replace battery.
