Limited Edition of 1,000 Pieces – Adventure Ecology

To commemorate Adventure Ecology’s latest adventure, IWC is launching a special limited edition of its Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth. Even the solid, durable construction of the new Ingenieur, manufactured carbon neutrally in Schaffhausen, symbolises sustainability.

As a companion for David de Rothschild and his crew during the four-month Plastiki expedition across the Pacific Ocean, the Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition “Adventure Ecology” embodies the message of the Plastiki: its blue dial and orange indices exclusively represent the Plastiki expedition, which is also signified by the intricate back engraving with the Adventure Ecology expedition logo.

The case, in stainless steel, measures 46mm x 15mm. It has a sapphire crystal with AR-coating and is water resistant to 120 meters. A soft iron inner-case protects the movement against extreme magnetic fields up to 80,000 amperes.

Movement is the automatic IWC caliber 80110 with 28 jewels, beating at 28,800 bph and with a power reserve of 44 hours. This in-house caliber features the Pellaton winding mechanism and an integrated shock absorption system.

To say it loudly and clearly: in the more than 430-year history of the portable watch there has never been an instrument like this. This pronouncement concerns the design, the equipment, and the technology in equal parts – all of which is so exceptional that it can only have come from the Munich watch fabrication Chronoswiss – behind which stands Gerd-Rüdiger Lang, an imaginative perfectionist with great experience in watchmaking. His long, upwardly mobile career, his extensive love of the chronographic profession, and his passion for fast vintage automobiles have made him well known for timekeepers of various markedness. This includes pocket watches as much as regulators, board watches, and – last but not least – wristwatches. The knowledge and talent he has carefully collected through the years has now led to a spectacular world premier by the name of Wristmaster, which debuts at Baselworld 2008.
